Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, visited the Republic of Korea from October 16 to 22, 2011. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn visited the Republic of Korea from October 16 to 12, 2011, as Head of the Thai delegation to the Asian and Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the United Nations Conference of Sustainable Development 2012 (Rio+20) to be held in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Preparatory Meeting was held in Seoul, between 19 and 20 October 2011. Its purpose was to discuss substantive and procedural issue in advancing the goal of sustainable development in preparation for the Conference (Rio+20). Her Royal Highness attendance at the Meeting was at the invitation of the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). In this regard, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Finance were also in the Thai delegation. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn departed on Korean Air Flight KE654, from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Sumut Prakan Province on Sunday 16, October 2011, at 23.45 hours. She returned by the same airline on Flight KE653, and arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday 22, October 2011, at 22.10 hours.
