Albert Hofmann is an Alumnus of the University of Zurich and a long time  researcher in natural products at the Sandoz corporation. He made many advances to  medicine through his investigation of natural product alkaloid chemistry. 				
The Hofmann Centennial celebration was established on the occasion of Albert Hofmann’s 100th birthday, January 12, 2006. In 2006, a Hofmann symposium with three  lectures was held. 				
In 2007, the Hofmann Gold Medal was established with Professor Dr. HRH Princess  Chulabhorn as the inaugural recipient for her outstanding accomplishments in Natural  Products Chemistry. <newcolumn> <newcolumn>{{:president:award:albert_hofmann_centennial_gold_medal.jpg|}}</columns>
