of Special Activities is in charge of conducting
special activities, especially improving quality of
life program for poor people by offering
accommodation and employment opportunity.

Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn,
The President of the Institute, has established
several project to take care of people from different
parts of Thailand as following, Chulabhorn Pattana
Project for people in the southern part of Thailand,
Red Sapphire Project for people in the eastern and
northeastern part of Thailand and Baan Namsai
community in Pang Nga Province.
Chulabhorn Pattana Project
Floods in Southern Thailand in 1988
constituted one of the worst disasters in the recent
history
of the country, they caused severe loss of
human lives and great damages to infrastructure,
settlements, environment, agriculture and fisheries.
Four months after the aforementioned disaster,
Chulabhorn Research Institute was requested by
the Royal Thai
Government to co-ordinate activities
and carry out the implementation in resettlement,
rehabilitation, restoration and management of natural
resources and the environment in the worst affected
province, Nakorn Sri Thammaraj. Four projects
were established as follows :
- Chulabhorn Pattana I Village
- Chulabhorn Pattana II Village
- Chulabhorn Pattana III Village
- Chulabhorn Pattana IV Village
