2-6 November 1992
Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand
The Second Congress on Environment, Science and Technology took place on November 2-6, 1992 to commemorate the 60th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand whose work and tireless efforts have contributed significantly to environmental protection and nature conservation. The congress was well attended by over 1,000 participants from Thailand and overseas. The Congress brought together scientists, engineers, environmental experts and policy-decision makers from all parts of the world to meet, discuss and exchange knowledge in order to promote multidisciplinary approaches to global environment and health problems. Priority issues, particularly of developing countries, were identified, and future directions towards the 21st Century in the interrelated areas of environment, science and technology were emphasized. Along with this Congress, there was an opportunity to prepare data on the environmental situation in Thailand for discussion at United Nations Conference on Environmental and Development (The Earth Summit) at Rio de Janeiro in 1992.
