Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, visited the Swiss Confederation and the Russian Federation on May 28 – June 18, 2011.
During the visit to the Swiss Confederation, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn attended the annual meeting of the University of Tokyo President’s International Advisory Council held in Geneva, during May 28 – June 4, 2011.
After the Swiss Confederation, Her Royal Highness was invited by the Russian government to visit Moscow and Saint Petersberg. On this occasion, she was presented, in Moscow, an Honorary Award from the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry, ZIOC, of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an Honorary Doctoral Degree from D. Mendeleyev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, and an Honorary Doctoral Degree from Saint Petersberg State University in Saint Petersberg.
The N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences was founded in 1934. The world fame of the Institute is associated with the prominent scientists who worked in the Institute. The Institute ranks among the leaders of Russian science in the field of organic and bioorganic chemistry, focusing on the research activities of practical solutions of top priority for Russia.
D. Mendeleyev University of Chemical Technology of Russia has a long, 130-year history. Since its inception the University has been training highly qualified scientists and engineers for industrial needs, thus helping securing the sustainable development of the country. The University graduates are able to deal with challenges in a comprehensive manner, and to take care of the research, production, environmental, and personal development issues all at the same time. On June 7, 2011, Her Royal Highness met with Mr. Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn departed on Swiss International Airlines Flight LX 181 from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan Province on Saturday 18, May 2011, at 14.35 hours. She returned by the same airline on Flight LX 180, and arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday 18, June 2011, at 14.35 hours.
