Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, visited the Republic of India from January 31 – February 5, 2012. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn’s visit to the Republic of India was at the invitation of the Director of the WHO South-east Asia Regional Office. Her Royal Highness attended the WHO South-east Asia Regional Meeting where the issue of environmental effects on human health was discussed. She participated in the regional health forum for programme training and coordination in her capacity as President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), which is the WHO Collaborating Centre for Capacity Building and Research in Environmental Health and Toxicology. The activities of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Capacity Building and Research in Environmental Health and Toxicology are carried out through CRI’s International Centre for Environmental Health and Toxicology (ICEHT). The IECHT has been involved in 2 major activities : capacity building and research. The Centre holds short-term capacity building activities in the areas of Environmental Health Science, Toxicology, and Risk Assessment, for Thailand and other countries within the region. WHO has been providing experts in the area of Epidemiology and Risk Assessment to conduct the trainings. Longer-term training is carried out in the form of graduate programs in Applied Biological Science. CRI, moreover, promotes and conducts collaborative research in Environmental Health Science and Toxicology. In New Delhi, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn granted an audience to the Thai Government officials and the Thai community in India at the Royal Thai Embassy Residence, during the course of which they were informed about the royal projects initiated and supported by Her Royal Highness herself as well as the activities of the Chulabhorn Foundation which include those of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, the Chulabhorn Graduate Institute, and those in her capacity as Honorary President of the Princess Mother's Medical Volunteer Foundation (PMMV). Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn departed on Thai Airways International Flight TG323 from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan Province on Tuesday 31, January 2012, at 07.25 am. She returned by the same airline on Flight TG324, and arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Sunday 5, February 2012, at 17.25 hours.
