Knowledge in immunology and immunochemistry is vital to the understanding and development of methodologies and products to help solve some health problems in developing countries. For example, newly emerged infectious diseases endemic to Thailand and neighboring regions need to have simple on-site diagnostic tests. New methods and processes for the production of effective, safe and affordable pan-specific antivenoms which are not commercially viable but which are life-saving need to be developed.
