The third village, situated in the former
Samed Juan degraded forest, adopted the modified
Pah-Rak-Nam community system. Pah-Rak-Nam,
which literally means Forest-Loves-Water, is a
project that Her Majesty Queen Sirikit originally
initiated combining reforestation and community
development which was first implemented in the
North-eastern part of Thailand.
Chulabhorn Pattana III Village
Wasestablished in1989 at Kurae, Thung Yai,
Nakorn Sri Thammaraj.In the modified PahRak-Nam model, each family was given 0.16
ha for their private quarters, and 2.4 ha for
agriculture purposes and reforestation in
which forest for conservation had been planted
alternately with economic forest. Members of
this community are allowed to earn their
income from the economic forest in return for
their care for forest conservation
People’s major occupation is agriculture, especially perennial plants and vegetables such as papaya, corn, eggplant, banana, as well as fruit, trees such as rambutan, longkong, santol and durian.
