Chulabhorn Pattana 7
The area of Chulabhorn Pattana VII
Project used to belong to Department of Social
Welfare which has planned to established selfsustaining communities for immigrates from
the North-eastern part of Thailand and for
some former members of Malayan Races
Liberation Army (MPLA) in Yala Province.
The total land area is approximately 560 ha.
Chulabhorn Research Institute has
decided to develop a model for the integrated
environment and natural resources
management programme in this area.
Preliminary survey’s conducted by the team of
experts in April 1992, revealed that this area is
situated near Banglang Dam where virgin
forests are still intact and there are ample
water resources which make this particular
location extremely enchanting. It has been
decided that no community should be set up
in this beautiful area and that Chulabhorn
Pattana VII should be conserved in its original
setting.
With proper management, Chulabhorn Pattana VII Project should serve as a model of effective forest management and sustainable natural resource utilization through the establishment of a Botanical Park, information centres on environmental matters, and recreation areas.
